Creating good jobs and supporting small businesses

Minnesota's economy is much stronger now than when I began my first term in January 2013. We boast one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation and were recently ranked the sixth best state for business in the country. As a member of the White Bear Lake Chamber of Commerce, I understand the needs of area businesses.

I supported Minnesota businesses by authoring a new law that provides an up-front sales tax exemption on capital equipment purchases. I worked to reduce unemployment insurance taxes by over $340 million (the largest business tax cut in state history), expand job training initiatives and invest in financial incentives for business expansions. But I know we can do more to help businesses succeed.
Local small businesses can depend on me
Strengthening Businesses. Adding jobs. Growing our economy.

When I took office in 2013 I was determined to get our economy back on track. As a leader in the private sector for 30 years, I understand local businesses are the lifeline of our community. During my first term, I went to work for local businesses.

*The League of MN Cities named me a "Legislator of Distinction" in 2013 and 2014 for working collaboratively to address regional water issues to avoid unintended consequences for city residents and businesses.
